Jessica rolled her eyes and asked for the same drink. „Shopping. You?” She said, looking around. She still couldnt believe that she had to spend her holiday’s on this isle. She sighed to herself and looked at Neveah.

Neveah arched her brow  as Jessica rolled her eyes. Generally, she wasn’t good with people. She didn’t deal with bullshit and she was starting to wonder how she had dealt with her this far. “Y’know I’m trying to be as friendly as possible but will you just cut your shit attitude for a few hours and have some fun?” Neveah snapped. “I mean you aren’t even trying. It’s like you want to be miserable.” she took a long gulp of her drink and sighed. “My God.” she muttered.

Jessica grinned. „I’m not good with people and I told everyone about that. I told people about me not having a heart so stop making an drama out of this and just down your drink. god. ” She said, crossing her arms.

Neveah downed her drink without a sign of any reaction. She was good at suppressing those things by now, the burn of alcohol in her throat— she had a slight drinking problem. Drowning things with liquor. She stared at the blonde and shrugged her shoulders. “I have no problem with you not having a heart; my problem is you basking in your own misery. Just have fun.” she said, coolly  She was surprised with herself being able to hold her temper, and she offered a small grin to herself, but her eyebrows still arched. If this was any other time, Neveah would have knocked her the fuck out. She had no idea what was holding her back this time, maybe it was that she didn’t want that— the drama to start and the word to get around.

Ryder wondered if Neveah was talking like this because she felt she had to prove herself in some way to him, and if that was a possibility, why he was thinking about it at all. He realised as he swept his lips up and across the shell of her ear that he didn’t care whether she was safe or spontaneous or whatever she was, he just kind of liked being here with her with the sand in between his toes smelling the scent of salt in her hair. He hadn’t felt this content in a long time, not since before things started kicking off back home, and for the first time he felt kind of frustrated at all the time he wasted well, getting wasted, frustrated that he didn’t appreciate moments like this spent with perfect strangers that were perfect in more ways than one and, he hoped after the other night, less of a stranger.

“Girl, I don’t care what y’are,” he said flippantly, and he meant it. He drew away a little, chewing on the inside of his lip, eyes heavy and pensive. He thought about the girl he’d made out with at the party the other night and wondered if he should tell her, and then wondered some more about why it mattered so much. He stretched out his hand and placed it across hers, still looking out at the sea, and for a moment he dropped his guard and let his face become soft and thoughtful.

Neveah watched him carefully after he spoke, watched thought flicker in his eyes before disappearing— watched his face soften and his eyes sparkle yet again. She thought about his words and realized that for once there was one person who didn’t have a care in the world what she was, but wanted to spend time with her anyways and that brought her a sense of.. relief? Relief and happiness. Her lips turned up a little bit but she was silent, looking down at his hand over hers and wondering what he could possibly be thinking about right now.

Brushing stray pieces of hair from her face with her free hand, Neveah looked back to Ryder. “Y’know,” she started, hesitantly. “I like you, Ryder.” she said sincerely, keeping her lips turned up into a hint of a smile. She hadn’t had any other clue how to say it because she could hardly remember the last time she actually felt comfortable like this with anyone else and that was what scared her a little bit.

Perfectly Imperfect: Some white girl fun! || Kayla and Neveah ||

kayladaluna:

Kayla shook her head, “I want to fix it but he won’t give me the time of day,” another sip, “it’s beyond that now, I see him around which is the worst part. He doesn’t even acknowledge me now so I have to move past it; easier said then done I suppose.” Kayla ran her fingers through her extremely greasy hair and threw it in a bun, “I guess this was what I wanted,” Kayla grabbed a cigarette, lit it and shrugged, “what can I do?”

“Having fun is good; who’ve ya been hanging around with?” Kayla was extremely curious and she wanted to focus on Neveah. More then anything she needed to stop dwelling on the past and move on. Kayla placed her cigarette to her lips, she inhaled and smirked, “these past few weeks haven’t been very fun, nothing interesting has happened. I’ve been hanging out at the bar lately, which is always good,” Kayla took a sip of her beer.

Neveah nodded as Kayla told her about Kyle. She felt bad, because there was obviously nothing that Neveah could do for her but she hoped things would work out between the two of them. “Give him time I guess.. That’s really hard,” she settled on, feeling like she wasn’t very comforting and relieved that she’d changed the subject. A small smile crossed her face, “Oh, uh, I’ve been chilling with that new blonde girl… Jessica.” she said and took a drag, exhaling smoke from between her lips before continuing. “And Ryder.” as much as she tried to be nonchalant while saying his name she felt her cheeks grow hotter and she knew they’d be pink.

”Any night at the bar is a good night.” The dark haired girl chuckled, sipping from the beer bottle as she gathered her thoughts. “Meet anyone interesting?”

Ryder shrugged slightly in response to Neveah’s question, trailing his fingertips up her spine to the back of her neck where he rested his hand, curled around her nape. It was probably his favourite part of a girl, after the usual stuff of course (he was a boobs guy, for the record), it felt kind of tender, kind of exposed, especially when you touched her there unexpectedly and you could feel the shiver that went down here spine. Maybe that was what he liked the most, getting a reaction.

“I don’t know,” he said, after a brief moment of thought. “You just seemed kind of…balanced. Normal. Safe.” He smiled a little to himself, no longer wondering at why people called him untactful when he couldn’t censor anything that came out of his mouth. He nuzzled her neck with a soft laugh instead hoping to lighten the mood, and as surprised as he was that he was trying to make somebody feel better he didn’t spend too long thinking on it, trailing little kisses now across her skin, scattering them onto her shoulder.

“I’m sure you do,” he murmured in an eventual response, but he could barely even remember the question.

Neveah felt shivers— just as Ryder was hoping she would. She bit her lip and listened as he spoke, pondering the thought to herself for a moment. His laughter was nearly contagious. She grinned as he nuzzled into her neck and scattered kisses over her shoulder. It was the kind of feeling that made her cheeks red, even though he wasn’t looking at her face to see it. “Hmm,” she murmured, pleased with his answer. Because after all usually she wouldn’t describe herself as balanced. But if he felt she was ‘safe’, then safe she would be— for him, anyways. Which was a little odd of her; to be something for someone. And she didn’t even mind.

She shifted her body slightly so she was sitting propped up by her elbows facing him a little more. ”I can be both safe and spontaneous.” she spoke again, grin lingering on her lips still, but she figured by the tone of his own voice that he was already preoccupied, carried away by his lips against her skin.

kayladaluna:

Kayla grabbed her bottle of beer and took a sip, she could tell that hanging out with anyone right now probably wasn’t the brightest idea. She just felt lonely and she certainly wasn’t used to it. Kayla closed her laptop and sighed, she should probably look presentable for when Neveah came over;…

Neveah grinned as Kayla opened the door and greeted her blond friend with a light hug as she stepped inside. “Ah, yes.” she sighed, happily. It’d been a quiet couple of days on the island and she was looking forward to having a little care free fun with Kayla after not seeing her for a while. She wondered how things had turned out with her and Kyle but she figured she wouldn’t ask, that if Kayla wanted to talk about it she would bring it up on her own. And it probably wouldn’t be a subject of conversation for tonight.

”So what are we doing? Staying in, going out? I’m prepared for either.” she said, running her fingers through her bangs and pushing them from her eyes. She could smell the smoke from Kayla’s cigarette and something.. beer? “Did you start drinking without me?” Neveah joked, nudging Kayla and laughing softly. “Bum me a smoke?”

As Jessica and Neveah were walking to the bar,Jessica just smiled quickly and nodded when Neveah asked her something. She wasn’t really interested in an conversation. All she wanted was to get wasted. As Neveah asked her about the island, she looked at her. „I dont think I can enjoy anything here. Oh wait. Getting wasted, yes. The island could be good.” She said and looked away again. As they arrived and she sat down, she looked at neveah and said „Rosewood. You?”

Neveah nodded, “I’m a little further off from Rosewood.” she said nonchalantly. It wasn’t important to tell her where she was from, really, because she knew Jessica probably hadn’t cared and plus she was just trying to make small talk at the time. Make things a little less awkward. “So, what do you do? Y’know, like any hobbies?” she asked, fiddling with her hair a bit to distract herself.

The bartender asked what he could get for them and Neveah settled on a Bay Breeze. She’d need something high in alcohol to get the night off to a better start. She tended to be awkward around people she didn’t know and there was something that was a little intimidating about Jessica for some odd reason. Neveah glanced over at the blond girl as she waited for her to get a drink, and resume their conversation.

Neveah shut her laptop and took a deep breath after discussing with the newest addition to the island, Jessica, plans to go out that evening. She’d figured that Jessica just needed a little taste of the island, something to show her that it isn’t so bad here after all and the worst thing for her…

Jessica had been talking to Neveah the whole morning. Now she had to go to the lobby to meet her down there to go „drink something.” She rolled her eyes. She wasn’t the nicest girl, being nice doesn’t suit her. She picked out her outfit and did her make up.She decided not to straight her hair. She took one last look in the mirror and smirked „you’re perfect.” She said to herself. She had just calmed down from the conversation with Ryder, which ended with him calling her a bitch. She got out her phone, she barely had connection. But she could see that she had 21 new messages by her friends. She looked at them, and tried to answer, but the connection failed. She groaned and got her bag,and went down to the lobby, where the brown haired girl waited for her. She went over to her. „Hey.Yes,of course.” She said, giving her a quick and weak smile.

Neveah forced her lips into a small grin, opening the door and leading Jessica out the door with her. “So I’m guessing you aren’t enjoying the island so far?” she took a ‘wild’ guess, chuckling softly as she glanced back at the blond girl. “You need’a just relax a little. It’s nice here, trust me.” she added, but then was done with the subject because clearly it wasn’t something that they would probably enjoy talking about with one another.

Shoving her hands in her pockets, Neveah chewed gently on the inside of her cheek, making her way towards the nearest bar on the island. It still surprised her that they could drink here without very much apprehension. But then again, there wasn’t really anywhere they could cause too much trouble while intoxicated, either. Soon enough they had reached their destination and she opened the door once again for Jessica. “So,” she said as they took a seat, waving down a bartender to get them some drinks. She waited, turned back to her and racked her head for anything to start a conversation. “Where you from?” she asked, simply.

Ryder had to admit that even he was surprised when Neveah leaned forward and pressed her soft lips against his. He smiled beneath her mouth, pressing his own against hers, pulling her head down, closer towards his, listening to the sound of the waves crashing in the background, to the sound of the blood pulsing at his temples.

He watched as she pulled away, a grin creeping across his face.

“Well, when I first met ya, I didn’t take ya for the spontaneous type, girl,” he said, glancing down briefly into his lap. He added, “But you’re sure provin’  me wrong, huh.” He reached across and put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her against him. The way he saw it, there was a girl there, a nice one, a pretty one, and he was going to make the most of it. He was determined too not to think on it too hard, but it was kind of difficult with her right there, the feel of her slender body aligned with his. He was suffused with a kind of sudden pleasure at the peacefulness of the movement, and all he could do for a few moments was smile gently and rub his thumb across the top of her arm.

”What made you think I was so anti-spontaneous?” Neveah asked with a light laugh and leaned into him, nuzzling under his arm placed around her shoulders. Her eyes wandered out towards the water, soaking up the moment. She’d always wished that moments like this one never had to end. She wondered if this was going to be the summary of her summer, moments with Ryder, her stomach filled with tiny butterflies because for some reason that tended to happen when she was with him. Grinning, she decided that that would be okay with her— but like she’d said to him before, things would fall into their own place.

Neveah absently played with the bracelet around her wrist before speaking again. ”I tend to do that. Prove people wrong, I mean.” she pondered out loud after a brief moment of silence, not sure if it was more towards him or to herself. Shrugging, she tilted her head up some to steal another glance at him.

Neveah shut her laptop and took a deep breath after discussing with the newest addition to the island, Jessica, plans to go out that evening. She’d figured that Jessica just needed a little taste of the island, something to show her that it isn’t so bad here after all and the worst thing for her case was for her to complain about being sent here. Because after all, it was paradise here. And the people weren’t so bad.

The dark haired girl pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a simple black tank top, grabbed her room keys, phone and some cash and was out the door within no more than fifteen minutes. She didn’t feel the need to do anything special just to go out for drinks with Jessica.

Soon enough Neveah was comfortably leaned against the wall in the lobby, glancing at the elevator from her phone every now and then to check for her companion for the evening. “Hey,” she said and grinned once she finally had spotted the blond girl. Neveah waved her over closer and then nodded towards the main set of doors. “You ready?”
